The Skyline Equestrian Team took first place in the second of three Michigan Interscholastic Horsemanship Association meets held at the Wayne County Fairgrounds. This improved their standing to second place overall and the chance to win the District 7 title, and a trip to the regional championships taking place in Mason at the end of the month.
Skyline riders held off a strong late meet challenge from overall leader Airport Carlton to claim the victory 111 to 106. Strong high score performances from junior co-captains Cecilia Lundberg and Madeline Turner led the Eagles scoring with 30 points each. First year team member, junior Terra Trent , backed them up with a break through score of 21, and fellow captain, junior Lysette Kessler, turned in a solid 20 point day. Freshman rider, Anne Boyd, receiving her first, first place win in equitation over fences, and giving a strong performance in Hunt Seat Bareback, rounded out the scoring. Twelve teams compete in the D division of the riding meet.
