Dexter High School
Skyline High School
The Eagles were looking to avenge their overtime loss from the last time they played the Dreadnaughts. And avenge they did, as they routed the boys from Dexter 9-2 on a chilly Wednesday night at Yost Ice Arena.
Skyline got off to a 5-0 first period lead on goals by Cooper Schmunk (assist by Ryan Van Diepen), Jacob Rothenberg (his first of the season, assist by Hank McMillin), Noah Bradburn (assists by Schmunk and Van Diepen), Van Diepen (assist by Eric Kadar), and Ryan Wilson (assists by CJ Bahr and Kadar).
The second period saw Dexter push back with two goals, but Skyline had two of their own in the period. Schmunk scored his second of the night (from Bradburn and Van Dipen), and Wilson got his second (from Bahr and Kadar) as he scored with 16 seconds left in the period to get the 5 goal lead back.
Third period action saw Skyline goalie Hector Clarke hold Dexter scoreless again. The Eagles pumped in two more – Van Diepen scored his second of the night (unassisted), and Freshman Owen Brady scored his first of the season with 34 seconds left in the game to finish the Dreadnaughts off.
Come see Skyline play Airport this Saturday at 3:00 at Yost.
