Skyline High School
Ann Arbor Huron High School
The Eagles mercied their cross town rivals, the Huron River Rats 8-0 on Thursday night at the Cube in the consolation game in the Dan Jilek Tournament. The Skyline icers controlled the game from start to finish, conducting puck control clinics several times throughout the game. Huron goalie Ethan St.Pierre was bombarded with 52 shots and played a spectacular game, but with wave after wave of Skyline attacks, even this top notch goalie stood no chance on this night of Eagle dominance.
Skyline was lead by Junior winger Josh Ernst who had 2 goals and 4 assists on the night. With Captain Ryan VanDiepen out of the lineup with an upper body injury suffered in last nightâs tilt against Gabriel Richard, Junior winger Zach Roberts was moved up from his checking line to one of the top scoring lines. He responded with a solid game, amassing 4 assists and earning the MVP medal for Skyline. Junior winger C.J. Bahr contributed 2 goals, Sophomore winger Noah Bradburn had 1 goal and 2 assists, Freshman defenseman Miles Roberts got 1 goal and 1 assist, Sophomore assistant captain Luke Lippert had 1 goal and 1 assist, and Kyle Clavier scored his first goal of the season. Matt Bahr, Hank McMillan and Sam Lippert all pitched in 1 assist each. Senior goaltender Hector Clarke earned the shutout as he stopped 14 shots.
The Eaglesâ next game is 6:30 next Wednesday 1/11/17 at the Arctic Coliseum against Saline. This game promises to be a real barn burner, so be sure to come out and support your Skyline icers. Our home rink is just 15 minutes west of town in Chelsea. The rink has a superb sports-themed restaurant upstairs, so come on out and make it a great night with your friends.
