Skyron lost a heartbreaker on Wednesday night at Vets to the visiting Blackhawks of Bloomfield Hills. With only 4 seconds left in the game, Bloomfield scored the tying goal to send the game to an 8 minute sudden death overtime, then put a dagger into the heart of Skyron when they scored with 2:10 left in the game.
Anna Scott (assisted by Rose Bogard & Claire Bott) scored with only 12 seconds left in the first to give Skyron a 1-0 lead heading into the second period.
During the second period, Skyron went up 2-0 on a goal by Emily Letke (assisted by Zoe Koster-Mockeridge & Hanah Bradburn). Bloomfield then scored later in the period to make it 2-1 heading into the third.
The Blackhawks tied it up at 2-2 with 2:04 left in the game, but Skyron quickly got the lead back just 30 seconds later when Letke scored her second of the game (assisted by Sophie Jones & Bradburn) with just 1:28 left in the game. It looked like Skyron was going to be able to hold onto the lead and finish out the night with a win. However, with only 4 seconds left the Blackhawks shot in the game tying goal from center ice to send it to overtime.
In overtime Skyron controlled the play and had many chances to win the game, but the Bloomfield goalie made some tough saves in the stretch. The Blackhawks were able to find the back of the net with 2:10 left in overtime to steal one away from Skyron.
