Multiple Teams · Boys Soccer – Summer Schedule & Tryouts FAQ

Q. When will Skyline boys soccer tryouts be held?
Tryouts will be held August 9, 10, and 11, 2017, with morning and afternoon sessions each day, 8:00 – 10:00 am and 4:00 – 6:00 pm. Players must attend all sessions. If you are unable to tryout during this time please contact Coach Morgan ( to schedule an alternative session.
Q. Do I need to register to try out for Skyline soccer?
Yes. Visit the Skyline athletics registration page to see all the steps you must follow and find links to all the information and forms you need. If you have registration questions please contact Laurie Adams in the Skyline Athletic Office (734) 994-7075.
Q. Do I need to have a physical before tryouts?
Yes. AAPS and MHSAA require that all players complete a physical exam after April 15, 2017. A copy of physical must be included with completed online registration. You can download the form here: Physical Card/Medical History Form (Spanish version | Arabic version).  Skyline Athletic Registration for the 2017-2018 school year will begin on July 10, 2017.
Q. What activities will be held for soccer players this summer?
There will be regular scrimmages and strength and conditioning sessions from Monday, June 26, 2017 through Friday, July 29. Please complete this emergency contact form before attending summer activities.
Q. Are Summer activities open to incoming Freshmen?
Yes. Any Skyline student interested in playing soccer this fall is warmly welcome to summer soccer activities.
Q. Is attendance at Summer Scrimmages mandatory?
No, but it is highly recommended; scrimmages allow your son an opportunity to get to know other players and the coaches before tryouts.
Q. What is Strength and Conditioning training?
Run by Coach B, this builds physical strength and aids in conditioning for the season ahead. More details at the strength and conditioning page.
Q. How can I keep up to date on summer activities?
We have a text alert system for all players and parents during the summer in case of scrimmage changes or cancellation due to severe weather. Each coach (Varsity, JV, and Freshman) will be setting up their own system after the teams are established in August. If you signed up for the summer text last year, you are still on the list. New players/parents, if you would like to sign up for text alerts, send a text message:

1. In the To: line, enter “81010”
2. In the Message: line enter “skysoca”

Q. Does my incoming Freshmen have to play on the Freshman Team?
No, tryouts will determine where your son will be placed.
Q. Is the Freshman Team only for incoming Freshman?
Yes, this is a Club Team and all players on this team must be incoming freshman.
Q. What is a Club Team?
A Club Team is supported financially by team parents. The Skyline JV and Varsity Teams are supported financially by Ann Arbor Public Schools, which is not able to support a Freshman team. The Freshman team is therefore a Club Team, which means it is supported financially by team parents.
Q. What fees do I need to pay for my son?
There will be Insurance and Pay-to-Participate fees during registration with AAPS, and a Team Fee which varies by team.
Q. What is the difference between the Pay-to-Participate fee and Team Fees?
Pay-to-Participate fees cover officials, coaches, and some transportation and equipment. Team Fees cover additional expenses that are not covered by the Pay-to-Participate fee (uniforms/warm-ups, practice equipment, travel expenses)
Q. Why do I need to pay the Pay-to-Participate fee for my Freshman son if the Freshman Team is a Club Team?
AAPS requires every player to pay the “Pay-to-Participate” fee during registration. If your son is selected for the Freshman Team, your Pay-to-Participate fee will be refunded to you unless you are planning on joining another sport during the school year.
Q. How often are practices during the season?
Practices are held after school every non-game day during the week.
