Friday 2/22 vs. White Lake Lakeland Eagles (5-2 Win)
Skyline’s Senior Night featured just two seniors – Noah Bradburn and Jacob Rothenberg, but the team played one of their best games this season as they sent them out in style with a well-earned win against a very strong, fast team. Zane Myler scored the first of his two goals of the night during first period action, and goaler Brendan Cobb turned away solid Lakeland chances en route to a 1-0 lead heading into the second. The outcome was unsure as Lakeland tied it up on the first shift of the middle frame, but senior Noah Bradburn bagged his school record 29th goal of the season on a beautiful pass from Kotoba Nakamura to get the lead back 2-1. Matt Bahr added another goal with less than 1 second to play in the period to head into the second intermission up 3-1. Myler got his second goal of the night in the third to increase the skyline lead to 4-1, but Lakeland was able battle back and notch one of their own in the final frame to make it a tighter game 4-2. With Jacob Rothenberg in the box for the last couple of minutes of the game, Lakeland pulled their goalie to give them a two-man advantage. In the ensuing play, Bradburn was able to get control of the puck in the Skyline end and send it down the ice to set Jamie Newton up for a foot race for the loose puck near the open Lakeland net. Newton was able able to overcome a significant lead that the Lakeland defender had on him, beat him to the puck and tuck it away into the open net to seal the win 5-2. Brendan Cobb earned the win, making many spectacular saves – even stopping a breakaway in the third to keep the game out of reach for Lakeland. Other Eagles showing up on the score sheet, each notching 1 assist: Ryan Schmunk, Shea O’Brien and Isaac Lippert.
