Girls Varsity Volleyball · Skyline Varsity defeats Adrian

On Tuesday evening the Skyline Varsity Eagles traveled to Adrian High School.  Coach Cristian, excited for his team to play, Cristian wanted the Eagles to play hard and get out to a fast start.  His wish came true.   The Eagles flew out to a 5-0 lead behind the serves of freshmen Harper Murray.  Despite Adrian calling a timeout the Eagles continued to push forward and extend their lead to 12-5.  A couple of mishandled balls by Skyline and momentum on the side of the Maple Leafs, Adrian closed the lead to 12-9.  Skyline regrouped and expanded their lead to 18-10, highlighted by a kill and tip from Kendall Murray.  Adrian called a timeout but Skyline finished off the Maple Leafs 25-10 with an assist from Stacie Warner to Kendall Murray.
Skyline maintained their dominance in set two.  Adrian erred by serving their first serve out of bounds.  Following an ace by Harper Murray and two assist from Warner to Kendall Murray Skyline took a 4-1 lead.  Claire Davis followed with two back to back aces to expand Skylines lead 6-1.  After back and forth play and both teams making service errors, Stacie Warner served an ace deep in the backcourt putting Skyline ahead 10-2.  Adrian continued to have difficulty with their serve receive and Skyline expanded their lead to 14-6.  Skyline had a total of seven aces that were delivered from Harper Murray, Claire Davis, Warner, and McKenna Pfeffer.  Adrian also had difficulty serving in game two as they had seven service errors.  Skyline won the second set 25-9.
Skyline took a commanding lead in game three as they jumped out to a 10-0 lead.  The lead was highlighted by four aces from Harper Murray, a backwards tip from Warner, and excellent defense from Megan Brummet, Sasha Akuezue, and Pfeffer.   The Maple Leafs struggled the majority of the third game and Skylines lead continued to grow as they maintained a commanding 18-3 lead.  Skyline was able to keep the Maple leafs off guard as Warner assisted Kendal Murray, Harper Murray, Akuezue, and Davis in consecutive kills.
The Eagles travel to Davison High School this Saturday September 19th for the Davison tournament.  On Tuesday, September 24th Skyline will host Ann Arbor Pioneer High School at 7:00PM.
