Boys Basketball Community Service

2015-2016

We hosted CAN (Community Action Network) to do a career cluster workshop focusing on careers in coaching and athletics with 12 of their participating high school students. The 12 students were able to hear from Coach Brock (our Varsity Football Coach), our AD Jeremy Barkey and Coach Lovelace about their personal career choice paths and what it took to get to the current positions and what we have to do during a typical year. Questions and answers followed along with lots of other very good discussion. It was great to host CAN who is a strong community supporter of our youth.

We volunteered to help EPHY (Education Project for Homeless Youth) to take school supply donations and put them into backpacks to give to homeless students in need to properly start their school year out right. We packed up about 400 backpacks and the players were outstanding in their effort over the three hour time slot!
