Skyline played Monroe on Wednesday and Ryan Wade had a great opening quarter hitting four 3-point shots and normally that would be great but on this night Monroe took huge advantage of a poor defensive effort by Skyline to start and scored 30 first quarter points to take a 30-24 lead after the 1st quarter. Skyline played better defense moving forward but Monroe had a lot of confidence and kept battling the whole game. Ryan had 29 points along with many assists and played a very solid game. Davion Pipkins was great defensively and on the boards. Chris Cayton had 12 big points and worked hard on both ends. Jack Williams hit two huge shots in overtime scoring 5 of his 13 points in the overtime period to go along with some big rebounds. Ashay Arora hit a big 3 in the 3rd quarter to swing the Momentum to Skyline for one of the first times in the game. DeSean Munson had 6 points and was in foul trouble most of the game and Jaylin Cooper added 5 points.
Monroe was led by Toryn Johnson with 23 points who was very tough throughout the game and Monroe had 4 players in double figures overall.
Skyline will host Saline on Friday.
