Skyline finishes the SEC Red Conference schedule at 10-0 for the season with a 57-46 win at Saline! This is the first time in school history that Skyline has won every game in the conference schedule and is currently 18-0 overall.
Skyline had a strong start to the 1st quarter and Brandon Wade accentuated the first quarter with a 3 pointer at the buzzer to take an 18-8 lead into the 2nd quarter. Skyline had trouble converting on shots that it normally hits in the 2nd quarter and Skyline’s lead was 26-19 at half with a very strong overall defensive effort in first half.
The 3rd quarter was more of the same where Skyline had many great shot opportunities and good defense but the shots did not go down and Saline stayed at arms length until mid way through the 4th when Skyline pulled away to a large double digit lead playing well defensively in the half court and converting in transition to finally hit shots again on offense.
Brandon Wade was again spectacular making big shots and big defensive plays when Skyline needed it the most. He finished with 24 points, 5 assists and 5 steals and was attacking the lane and creating opportunities for his teammates all night long. Jack Ammerman (13 points, 6 assists and 3 rebounds) and Ryan Wade (12 points and 3 rebounds) did not have their normal hot shooting nights but converted on big buckets when it mattered most in the 2nd half. Skyline got big minutes from Robert Malcolm Jr and Jaylin Cooper in this one to push Skyline to a large double digit lead in the 2nd half with their defensive intensity and pressure. Kabir Bergin and Darius Hall also played valuable minutes contributing rebounds and defensive support throughout the game.
It was a great team effort led by Brandon Wade to finish perfect in the conference. Skyline will host Romulus next Tuesday night to celebrate Senior Night.
