Skyline hosted the first Ann Arbor Showcase on Saturday Dec 9th which involved both the boys and girls programs from Skyline, Huron and Pioneer against outside Ann Arbor opponents for varsity and JV games. Games started at 10:00 am games and ended with 8:00 pm games. It was a very successful event! Skyline boys varsity played Sterling Heights Stevenson (SHS) in the 8:00 pm game. SHS came out very aggressive and confident in the first quarter scoring on many possessions against Skyline who defensively did not match their intensity on the offensive end. SHS took a 21-16 advantage into the 2nd quarter. Skyline then turned it up defensively in the 2nd quarter and held SHS to 4 points in the quarter to take a 28-25 half time lead. Skyline shot 1 of 16 in the first half from 3 point range as well. The game was back and forth in the 3rd quarter and Skyline was able to force multiple turnovers with increased defensive pressure and convert in transition in the 4th quarter to pull away with a 69-57 win. Brandon Wade led the way with a great overall game including 28 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Brandon now has 998 points on his career at Skyline, looking to get to 1000 career points in our next game at Monroe. Ryan Wade also finished with double figures with 12 points and 4 rebounds including a great tip in off a transition miss. DeSean Munson had 9 pts and 4 rebounds, Jack Ammerman had 8 points and 5 steals with a great defensive effort and Christian Knox had 7 points with 2 assists. Skyline looks for its 100th varsity program win at Monroe next Friday Dec 15th.
