Skyline played a great first half against Saginaw with stingy half court defense and solid offense to build a 33-22 half time lead. Skyline then went cold from the field in the 3rd quarter managing only 4 points and Saginaw continued to pressure full court and hit some big 3 pointers and tied the game going into the 4th quarter. Saginaw then held the ball at half court for the first 5 minutes of the 4th quarter. Once play resumed with about 3 min left, Skyline was able to rebound a miss and convert on a Kabir Bergin 3 pointer. Then Saginaw answered with a 3. Skyline turned it over and Saginaw converted a 2 pointer. Ryan Wade hit a driving 2 pointer with about 40 sec to tie it. Saginaw missed a shot at the buzzer in regulation and the game went to OT. In OT, Skyline again had a few opportunities to take a lead and continued to miss. Saginaw had the ball near half court with about 15 seconds left and tried to penetrate the zone with about 5 seconds left and couldn’t and then threw up a desperation contested shot from 8 ft behind the 3 point line with no time left and the heave went in.
Skyline next plays at Pioneer on Friday Jan 11.
