The Eagles are off to a 3-0 start to their season as they beat the visiting Walled Lake Western Warriors on Monday night 9-1, making Skyline history with their third mercy win in a row. Skyline was lead by Sophomore Ryan Schmunk with 5 points (2 goals, 3 assists). Senior C.J. Bahr had 4 points as he notched a hat trick plus an assist, and junior Noah Bradburn also had a 4 point night (2 goals, 2 assists). Tommy Letke had several key saves throughout the game to keep the momentum firmly shifted the Eagles’ way. Strong play by the defense, physical play and multiple goal scorers made it difficult for the visitors to mount any sustained attack. The chemistry of the team on and off the ice has been apparent in the past 3 games, but especially so in this game as the puck was being moved around well, and guys were sacrificing their bodies for their teammates with gritty play in the corners and in front of both nets.
The warriors scored first to make it 1-0, and it looked like the Eagles would not have it as easy as their first two games. Au contraire, mon frere. Skyline scored the next 9 goals, unanswered:
st Goal: C.J. Bahr (assisted by Schmunk & Luke Lippert)
nd Goal: L Lippert (assisted by Bradburn & Shea O’Brien)
rd Goal: Schmunk (unassisted)
th Goal: Bradburn (assisted by Isaac Lippert)
th Goal: C.J. Bahr (assisted by Bradburn & I Lippert)
th Goal: C.J. Bahr (assisted by Schmunk)
th Goal: Ryan VanDiepen (assisted by Schmunk & Zach Roberts)
th Goal: Bradburn (assisted by C.J. Bahr)
th Goal: Schmunk (assisted by VanDiepen)…scored at 7:00 of the period to end the game in a mercy.
