Skyline beat Huron Tuesday Feb 19th at home on Skyline’s senior night. Skyline’s five starting seniors of Ryan Wade, DeSean Munson, Davion Pipkins, Robert Malcom Jr and Jaylin Cooper got Skyline off to a fast start with aggressive man to man defense and high quality shots through the first quarter over Huron leading 19-10. In the opening quarter Ryan Wade had 7 pts, DeSean Munson had 6 points, Robert Malcolm Jr had 4 aggressive points going to the basket and Davion Pipkins added a basket on an offensive rebound.

In the 2nd quarter Skyline continued to increase its lead to 34-19 at half with Ryan Wade having another big quarter with 7 points and Jack Williams hit a big 3 pointer along with a Chris Cayton basket. Senior Spencer Morgan added valuable minutes as well during the opening two quarters. Skyline’s 1/2 court defense continued to only give Huron difficult scoring opportunities in the first half.

During the 3rd quarter, Huron was able to stick around and keep the game close. Huron was able to go 15/16 from the free throw line through the first 3 quarters, getting there often and making their free throws count. Skyline went a little cold from the field in the 3rd quarter and Huron was able to cut into the lead for a Skyline 43-36 lead at the end of the 3rd.

Huron went on to make four 3-point shots in the 4th quarter and cut the lead down to as little as 4 points. As the game entered the final couple minutes, Huron fouled Skyline and Skyline was able to convert enough free throws and gather enough big defensive rebounds to seal the win.

For Skyline, Ryan Wade had 18 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. DeSean Munson had a Double/Double with 20 points and 13 rebounds and had great hustle throughout the game. Robert Malcolm Jr had a very solid game with 7 points, 3 assists and 3 steals. Jaylin Cooper (5pts) and Jack Williams (4pts) each hit big 3-pointers to stop the Huron momentum in the 2nd half. Davion Pipkins and Chris Cayton each played solid defense and added 2 points.

Huron was led in scoring by Devon Womack with 25 points.

Skyline will play on Thursday 2/21 vs Detroit Northwestern at 4:30 at Detroit Loyola.
